The Urban Professional Learning Schools Initiative is a partnership between Arizona State University and the Tempe Elementary School District. This partnership supports the growth of these inclusive urban schools. Our Masters of Arts in Special Education students complete their residencies (800+ hours) in these schools. This is a 36 credit-hour, 12-month masters program (July 1-June 30) where residents co-teach with highly-trained teacher leaders in inclusive classrooms. Site professors are on-site at each partner school at least one full day each week to support the teacher residents. Over the course of the four semesters, we deeply explore the themes of Identity, Culture, Learning and Behavior, and Assessment.
